Update from last weekend

I finally went to WalMart to get the SD-card device, so now I'm back on track!

On Saturday Janet and I did the "Running With the Big Dogs".
It was a fundraiser for the Shelter and over 400 people came with their dogs!
I volunteered and walked one of the Shelter dogs.

Here's Carter ready to run.
But we just walked.

Later that night Jake was working at the brewery cause they were having a block party celebrating Oktoberfest.
It wasn't as good as the real Oktoberfest, but it was cool and there were a ton of people!

I asked the band if they could play "Ein prosit, ein prosit", but they didn't know how to.
I was a little disappointed, but they were still pretty good.

Penny and Luke were hard working bartenders all night long!

I met Casey and Nikki :)

Andy, Spencer and Taylor

And Pirooz!
Who by the way, is the only one of our friends who has come to see us in Twin Falls.
TWICE!
So to the rest of you;
you have some catchin' up to do!

On Sunday we had Sunday dinner as usual with the fam.
Janet let me pick dinner, and she made her delicious lasagna.

Emmett was out playing with Uncle Jake and Tucker.

We tried to make Emmett look up at Aunt Gudrun at the balcony,
but he didn't get it.
Or maybe he didn't care.

In lack of better things to say

I was going to put out some pictures from last weekend today,
but I can't seem to find the little device I use to put pictures on my computer.
I was going to go to WalMart and get a new one today,
but I still haven't gotten to it even though Wallie is a 30 second drive from our house.

So in lack of better things to say or pictures to post
I am posting a picture of our toiletS.
Yes we have two toilets.
Luxury.
That way we don't have to stand in line in the morning.
We actually have two showers too.
See if you can beat that for $425 a moth.

Two toilets = double the fun
You can actually stand on one toilet and look over on the other side too.
Jake did that once.
Very unnecessary.

Happy Sunday!

What am I doing on this lovely, sunny Sunday?
Homework.
Fun-fun-funny-fun-fun.
Anyways, I did actually get out of the house this weekend.
In fact we went to Pocatello (or Poca-tell-a-hoe, as this old guy at the brewery says).
 I had a fun weekend.
I will tell you more about that AFTER homework is done.

Just though I'd share a happy Sunday song (good for background homework music)

I do not recommend googling what this song is really about.
It will bum you out.
Just listen and enjoy,
and do your homework if you need to.

Jake talks Norwegian part 1

I'm gonna do this one in Norwegian, because it's not funny if you don't speak Norweegish.

Så seier eg: "We don't have any board games"

Aaaa, eg dauar! Han er så komisk. Og søt!
Av og til så syns han eg er søt óg, og då seier han
"Du er så sørt"

Komisk tilværelse, altså.

Konfirmantungdommar ut i natuen

Right before I came to the US this summer, I took some confirmation pictures of Nils-Vetle and Malin.
It was very hard to schedule a photoshoot this summer, cause either I was working...or Malin was working...or Nils Vetle was fishing (all the time)...and it RAINED all summer long it seems like.

Eventually we made it and they look like perfect examples of fine Norwegian youth!

There's two very special people in my life,
and today (or tomorrow for me)
ON SEPTEMBER 20TH

HAPPY BIRTHDAY
TORUNN & SABINE!!

I found a suiting birthday video on youtube:

I WISH WE WERE IN MUNICH RIGHT NOW!!

Ein prosit unt Alles Gute zum Geburtstag!

Alt for Norge

Tonight I've been watching this program called "Alt for Norge".
It's about Norwegian-Americans who come to Norway to compete in who's the "best" Norwegian.
They have to do all these typical Norwegian things.
And I'm telling you
it is hilarious!!
They are so cute and talented, though. I'm really impressed!
The winner gets to meet his/hers Norwegian relatives that still lives in Norway.

My favorite part so far was when they had to sing "Det går likar no",
and this one guy asked; "oh, so this song is about eating?"
And Bjarne Brøndbo answers:
"No it's about drinking"
Haha!

And Molly B. Landon.
This is how we are going to get you to Norway!
I'm coming to Pocatello next weekend and I will show you an episode,
and we'll figure out how to sign you up!
It's gonna happen!!! I'm so excited!

So start practicing this song:

Haha, the last comment on youtube was:
"It kinda reminds me of a pirate song"

Don't hassel the Hoff

A few years ago Ane, Dina and I came across this picture.
Well, today was Friday, so I came to think of it again.

I REALLY wish that was me with the Hoff in that picture.

Oh, one more story.
One time I went to the bathroom in a cafè
and when I put the toilet lid down
there was a sticker
with a picture
of
David Hasselhoff,
and it said
"You have been Hasselhoffed"

I thought I was gonna die laughing.
OR:
I thought I was gonna laugh myself to death (as we say in Norway)

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!

Big 2 5

It's official, in just as long time as the time I have lived I will be 50 years old.
(This sounds like one of my math problems btw)

What have I done for my birthday?
Gone to school.
Nobody at school knew it was my birthday.
That's mainly because I don't have any friends.
I bet people are still dwelling on the hepatitis-incident.

Since it's my birthday, I would like to take the opportunity to review some of the past few years.

In high school I looked like this:

And then I got perms in 2006

Last year I don't know what was wrong with me....

Let's take a closer look at that:
...I look like a Who

Now, in 2011,
I'm just grumpy

Haha, yes!

You have to check this commercial out.
I can't figure out how to post it on my blog, so just follow this link:
It's a commercial for DnbNor (my bank).
I knew I picked the right bank, cause this is funny.

For you english-speakers out there;
at the end it says something like:

- Some people get lucky in life.

For the rest of us,
starting a savings account might be a good idea.

S
for saving

What to do in Twin Falls?

Today we decided to go explore Twin a little bit.
There really isn't anything (I think) going on here.
So,
Her har ein ikkje meir moro enn ein lagar sjøl.

First we went down in the canyon.

Then we hiked up on a rock to get a better view

Don't ask me how they live here without water. But they are pretty!

View over the one side of the valley

View over the other side

Gotta have that tourist photo in front of the bridge.

Then we drove around and checked out the canyon from another side. Jake wanted to go fish down there, but couldn't figure out how to get down.

Then we figured it out, and Jake fished down there. It was in the middle of nowhere. We were possibly the first people at this amazing fishing spot EVER.

NOT
It was in the middle of a park.

The park had a tree in it that I liked.

Then I made a new friend in the park. I can't remember her name - something with an E.
I'll just call her Juanita Solis. She and her Dad was from Nevada. She had just started 1st grade, and she actually lost a tooth this morning! We held hands, and according to Juanita we are BFF's 4ever.

She took a picture of me and I was very nice to let her borrow my new camera!
(Jake does not get to borrow it)

Then she took a picture of Jake and me.
Not a bad picture - creds Juanita!

Juanita and her Dad.
She was very sad when she realized we probably wont ever meet again,
but I told her that we did meet once and now that I have a picture of her and her Dad people will know that we met.
So everything is a-ok.

More random pics from the park:

Squirrel with a disk prolapse in the 10th vertabrae.

Going to the chiropractor!

My favorite photo of the day:

(I like it in B&W)

FYI:
Today I made the best smoothie I've ever made!
I'm not cheap, I will share the recipe.

BLUEBERRIES
ACAI-PUREÈ CONCENTRATE
(frozen, unsweetened from Fred Mayer)
STRAWBERRY LEMONADE
VANILLA YOGHURT
(I used this low fat Australian yoghurt called Wallaby from Fred Mayer, and it is gooood)

This smoothie is
GØTTARE ENN PRIM!

To all of you English speaking peeps out there:
If you ever want to know something in Norwegian that is a handy saying.
You can use it whenever something is really good.

How was dinner?
Gøttare enn prim!

How was your trip to Mexico?
Gøttare enn prim, except from we got robbed 20 times.

How did it feel, kissing Brad Pitt?
(or in my case; Jake)
I'll tell ya, it was GØTTARE ENN PRIM!
